A full-time professional youth worker and a team of qualified part-time workers
under the governance of a voluntary management committee run the Club. Membership is open to any young persons between the age of eight years and twenty-one years on payment of a membership fee and nightly attendance subscriptions. Over the school year, membership totals over one thousand young people with an average nightly attendance of over one hundred members. The Youth Club is open on six evenings each week and also daytime at weekend, after school and during school holidays. Members are encouraged to help and have their say in the organisation of the Club through a Members Committee, which meets regularly with the Leader. There is available qualified tuition in computer skills in the I. T. Suite. Sporting activities are many and varied: - Football (13 teams in Leagues). Netball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Fitness Programmes, Tae Kwando, Snooker, Ice Skating. Arts: Dance, Drama, Crafts, Painting, Drawing. Visits to Theatres and Music Venues. Outdoor Activities: Hill Walking, Climbing, and Canoeing through residential stays in North Wales and Cumbria. Members are given the opportunity to take part in discussions and courses in living a healthy lifestyle through our own qualified staff and outside agencies on such topics. Healthy eating - fitness, alcohol and drug abuse, relationships and other healthy social needs. Our Staff of fully trained Youth Workers are always on hand to befriend, counsel or give partial care to any young person who has a problem, needs to talk in confidence, needs advice or just a chat, our workers are there. |
